How this estimate is calculated

SDLT is charged in bands, so each slice of the purchase price is taxed at the rate for that band. This page uses the current residential SDLT bands for England and Northern Ireland: 0% up to GBP 125,000, 2% from GBP 125,001 to GBP 250,000, 5% from GBP 250,001 to GBP 925,000, 10% from GBP 925,001 to GBP 1.5 million, and 12% above GBP 1.5 million.
